Memory Upgrade killing LAN interface?

Memory Upgrade killing LAN interface?

Post by Simon Wagstaf » Wed, 30 Jul 1997 04:00:00

Howdy All.

I'm having a hardware issue with SCO (my version is 3.2v4.2).

I am trying to add memory to the computer running this OS (a DEC Prioris
series system).  Once the memory is installed, am am able to boot
normally, but have NO remote access to the system (no ping, no telnet,
no rlogin etc.).  Ifconfig says the interface is up, and I CAN ping the
loopback address.  If I remove the memory,  the interface behaves just
fine.  I'd really appreiciate it if someone could shed some light on
this, as I have software which requires the additional memory.  Thanks
very much.

Simon

Your network card is probably using some memory space which overlaps
with the added memory.  So: tell us what network card (brand and model);
what driver; show us the driver's initialization string ("%cardname ..."
at boot time); and tell us how much memory you had before and after the
upgrade.

1. Upgrading swap space when upgrade memory?

If someone upgrades memory from 32M to 96M is it necessary to upgrade the
swap space likewise?  How do you repartition the disk without losing info?
The disk is not full, at all, but I don't know how to do it.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff
