Hello SCO experts,
I am having a problem running link(HW) to read in a BTLD diskette
containing an Ultrastor 24 SCSI controller driver. I am trying to
install OS5 on a refurbished system.
I got the driver from a BBS and produced the diskette according to their
instructions. I think the diskette is OK because I can mount it on
another SCO system and the layout looks correct according to the btld man page.
The driver is listed as being for SCO 3.2.4, do I have a chance of it working
for OS5??? If not can anyone point me to a good source for the correct
driver.
First I boot the OS5 install diskette.
Assuming that the driver (package) name us "u24pkg" I am trying:
boot
: link fd(60)u24pkg
then answering "u24pkg" to the prompt from link, it reads the diskette,
then the error message I get is:
fd(60)u24pkg link="u24pkg" btld=fd(60)Bad magic number
I am a beginner at this but I think I am interpreting the manual (boot(HW))
correctly. Can anyone offer suggestions? Am I "link"ing incorrectly, or
is it a btld diskette that can only work for SCO 3.2.4?
Thanks in advance,
Ken M.
