System: OSE 3.0, Dell 466SE, 32MB, 1-340HD, 1-1005HD,
Adaptec 2742AT, Computone Intelliport II

We would like to attach a HP ScanJet 3c to our system
and run OmniPage Professional for Windows (OCR software)
under Merge. This was not possible under OSE 3.0 because
OmniPage requires 386 mode.

Is this possible under OSE 5.0 and the new Merge?

Are unix scanner drivers required/available for this to work?

Try Orion Scan. It is native SCO code, and uses you SCSI HA to run
the Scanner.
