Problems with mmdf and uucp in remote sites

Post by Wildca » Sat, 12 Aug 2000 04:00:00

Hello there friends....

This is becoming an annoyance to me - we are using mmdf with uucp to do our
email - our remote sites dial into the mailhost with their mail since it is
the smarthost also.  In the /usr/spool/uucp/.Status directory we have the
file for the mailhost which reads:

23 8 965980194 38400 EXECDIAL REMOTE FAILURE ndce60

I have checked Permissions and Systems files in /usr/lib/uucp and they all
check out.  Checked the /usr/lib/uucp/Devices file and it is fine with the
ACU device using atdialSPORT (the modem is a sportster).  Also made sure the
port was set to respawn in /etc/inittab.  The port is owned by uucp in /dev/
directory.

I have no idea where else to look for fixing this error!  NO information
could I find on SCO website either.

Can anyone shed some light on this as it is the most common problem I have
with our remote sites dialing into the mailhost.  The mailhost can dial and
transmit just perfectly to the remote sites.  But I can't get 45% of them to
dial back.
