Sysadmsh Backup/Restore limits to 209MB filesize.

Hi,

Maybe this subject is covered already, but I couldn't find it anyhow.

I want to use the sysadmsh backup and restore functionality. This is
handled by /usr/lib/sysadm/backupsh.
Is there a reason why backupsh does a ulimit 419304 during a restore.
This means that files larger than 209652 KB can't be recovered.

I didn't found anything about this in the IT scripts, but I can hardly
imagine that nobody never recovered a file larger than this.

1. 2GB ext2 filesize limit applies to tape backup?

Hi,
We use essentially "tar -czf /dev/tape /" for the full backups on
Linux PCs in our lab. On a PC with these partitions:

Filesystem         1024-blocks  Used Available Capacity Mounted on
/dev/hda2            2888796 1297106  1442305     47%   /
/dev/hdc1            2035606  915309  1015073     47%   /home/ftp
/dev/hdc2            2028129   13916  1909389      1%   /var/spool/mail,

After the above tar command was successful, I did "tar -tvzf /dev/tape"
after rewinding the tape to the beginning of the file. Its output
terminated approximately at 2GB mark with this error message:

gzip: stdin: decompression OK, trailing garbage ignored
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.

Is this due to the 2GB filesize limitation of ext2? Is this irrelevent
to this limit because there's no filesystem on tape and the error
is something else?
By the way, the tape drive is a SCSI drive using 4/8GB Travan
cartridges.
Thank you inadvance.
