need help figuring out where /usr/src/linux/include files are on SLS di

Post by Jeffrey Mud » Thu, 14 Oct 1993 10:20:22

I installed the 'C' compiler from wuarchive's copy of SLS
linux.  The normal /usr/include directory is in place, but
many of the *.h files refer to linux/*.h files.  I know that
this directory is "linked" to /usr/src/linux/include/ ...
but for some reason, my "installation" did not create this
directory.  Where do these files come from? In particular
which of the disks, files contain these include files on the
SLS distribution.

thanks for your assistance,

[..]

You have to get the source of the kernel to compile C programs.

Without this source the *.h  with gcc are all empty (they have
only an #include to those of the kernel).

You need to get the Linux kernel source to get the relevent #include
files.  I can't tell you offhand which disk, as I don't use SLS.

1. Help: Cannot find /usr/src/linux/include/linux !!!

: Hi:

:       I am using Linux kernel 1.1.50.

:       I found that I don't have /linux in /usr/src directory so that I
: cannot compile some programs.

:       I had /usr/src/linux/include/linux in my 0.99.14a kernel before.
: I have no idea why I don't have it now.

:       Any help/comment/suggestion/assistance will be appreciated.

:       Thanks in advance.

You may get the sources of 1.1.50 (or more) and install /usr/src/linux
properly. Versions above 1.0 don't put anything in /usr/include/linux
and /usr/include/asm ... /usr/include/linux is now a symlink
to /usr/src/linux/include/linux (idem for asm).
There is also a readme file in /usr/src/linux (after installation of the
sources and patching the kernel)...
The last version is 1.1.61, and it is said to be 'bug-free' ...
