Is there a linux Editor that simulates the Microsoft's Visual Studio Editor

Since I am very familiar with the MS Visual Studio Editor, I would
like to know if there is any Linux editor that simulates it....
Probably this can be done in emacs but in this case I would like to
know if I can get the configuration files to customize its behavior...

Thanks for any help

KDevelop[1] is a full-fledged IDE that's probably the closest thing to
VS on linux.  Anjuta[2] is a similar environment based on the GNOME
libraries. There's also an emacs package that implements the CUA
(Windows-Style) keybindings in Emacs[3], although if you're going to
tackle [X]Emacs, it's worthwhile to get used to the standard Emacs
keybindings.

1. Microsoft Visual Studio Better Than KDE Studio Gold ?

I haven't used KDE studio gold-- I still do all of my Qt development using
command line tools. Linux also ships with designer, which is a Qt based GUI
builder. I don't know whether that runs on Windows or not.  I did use KDevelop
for a while. The user interface is similar to VC++. It uses automake and
autoconf on the back end.

The main thing that Linux is likely to get you is a pretty solid compiler, if
you use gcc 3.1.

I think the only way you're really going to find out what's right for you is by
evaluating the products yourself.

Anyway, I crossposting to comp.os.linux.development.apps and setting followups
there.

My question for comp.os.linux.development.apps is, has anyone used KDE studio
gold ? How does it compare with KDevelop ?  And how does it compare with VC++ ?
