Tool to add fstab entries?

Tool to add fstab entries?

Post by Jonathan Urbac » Sun, 07 Jul 2002 10:19:07

Hello all,
Does anyone know of a graphical tool to add entries to fstab? I'm using
redhat 7.3 and I want to add some mounted filesystems. It used to be you could add
these things using linuxconf. I have a feeling that there is still a graphical tool
and that it is the preferred method adding mounts to linux.

Thanks!

Jonathan

use a text editor, it's not hard to DIY.

Why use a graphical tool when you don't need it?

Equinox Desktop Environment has it. search the net for file ede* . Of
course you dont need to install the whole EDE. Just take the tool you
need.

Tool to add fstab entries?

Thanks for the suggestions webmin and Equinox Desk Environment.
Webmin's website was acting up when I checked it... so I will look at
it again tomorrow. But what I saw looks useful.

As for EDE, the utility efstabedit looks like what I want. Many thanks!

The reason I would rather not directly edit my fstab is because frankly I
am afraid of mucking it up, having done it once before. Ideally I would like
a utility that checks the format of my fstab entries before writing it.
This seems a good strategy for me because this is a file that is pretty
crucial for correct functioning of the os.

Thanks again!
