Boca research internal 33,6k modem, how to get it working? (if anyhow)

Post by Jukka Liukkone » Fri, 10 Aug 2001 03:03:51

I have no idea about the connection (probably PCI). This card worked in QNX
and Beos (if that helps). Most likely OEM, came with "ast advantage! 7409".
Tried with pppconfig, wvdial, and some gnome tools. though, haven't tried
to hack it anyhow. I have read Harware howto. Please help if you know
something. Detailed instructions accepted warmly =) [Debian 2.2 non-us
used, I added PPP to kernel] settings:  COM2  (8 none 1) I/O 02F8h - 02FFh
IRQ 03

if anyone could help me i'd appreciate that.

1. Getting busy signal dialing into USR 33.6K Sportster modem

I configured a USR 33.6Kbps Sportster modem with the following string:

               AT&F1&H1&I0&K0&B1&N6&D2&C1&A0&R2E0F1Q1S0=1&W0

and the dip switches are set to UUUDUUUD.  I have the modem connected to
tty1
on an IBM RS/6000 running AIX 4.2.1.  I also added the line "Direct tty1 -
9600 direct" to /etc/uucp/Devices, ran 'penable tty1', and set login=share
for
tty1 via chdev.

I'm able to dial out from the AIX box, but when trying to dial-in I get a
busy
signal.  Did I configure the modem incorrectly?  Any help on what could be
causing the problem would be greatly appreciated!
