Config 95c+ uploaded to tsx-11

Post by Ross Bi » Fri, 17 Apr 1992 08:15:48

I just uploaded configc+.tar.Z to tsx-11.mit.edu.  It should appear
in a few hours, and it includes:

An improved configuration system which allows the specification
of arbitary constants in the devs.conf file.

        The kernel de*.

The new keyboard driver which has provisions for remapping keys.

        A wd8003 ethernet driver.

most of what you need to get ka9q working with the ethernet driver.

If anyone wants to write documentation, or wants to write programs to
use some of the new features of the keyboard driver, send me some
email.

1. ANNOUNCE: config 0.1 uploaded to tsx-11

i finally uploaded my config package to tsx-11

this is very alpha and any comments on how to improve it or contributions
of well-documented sample files are greatly appreciated.

this is the readme
-----------------------------------------

Config 0.1

What is the config package:
Config is a package containing sample configuration files for Linux and
X11 plus a little tutorial on how to use them.
Sample files include .less (with cursor and page keys,) .emacs,
.openwin-menu, ...

Why I wrote this package:
A while ago I got fed up with having to search for the various configuration
files scattered all over the directory tree. So I started making a directory
from where I could access all these files conveniently via sym-links.
I discussed this idea with several people on the net and got convinced, that
a package with info on how to set up such a directory and some sample files
would help many newbies to manage their Linux (or even *ix) system better.

How to use config:
Config comes in two files. This 'config.readme' and 'config.taz', which is
a gzipped tar file, containing a tutorial, sample files, and a shell script
to set up the symlinks.
DON'T untar it in your home directory. It contains no pathnames. Make
yourself a directory to hold these files. I myself have it in /config,
some apollo users said they would put in in /user-data. The name and
location of this directory really doesn't matter. Untar config.taz there
and read the README it contains.
