Mouse problems in X

Mouse problems in X

Post by Kevin Campbe » Thu, 20 May 1993 06:38:09

I finally got X running on my machine (after nearly frying my monitor),
even though I don't technically have a supported graphics card.  My
Trident 8900z seems to work fine with the settings in modeDB.txt, even
though the docs say only the 8900c is supported.
However, X is still unusable since I am unable to move the mouse.  I've
messed around with the Xconfig, trying out each of the mouse settings
that are there, and some work to differing degrees.  None of them work
well enough though.  Either the mouse position only updates every 8
seconds or so, or the computer just hangs and I have to do a cold reboot.
Even Crtl-Alt-Backspace doesn't work.  I've used the mouse test program
to figure out which mine is, and it says it's a Microsoft Mouse
(even though it's a Logitech), but X hangs on that setting.  Please
help, my roommates crappy old Artech mouse works great and my expensive
Logitech craps out. :(

Thanks in advance for any help,

1. supraexpress modems (28.8) problems w/dial-ins

I've configured my linux box to receive calls from two 28.8
SupraExpress modems (both support v.34).  Everything works fine, the
connection, everything.  However, when the user logs off, the modems
literally go bezerks and make the LED display shows pure garbage and
the SD/RD leds blinks relentlessly.  After that, the modem no longer
answer to commands issued by my system or to incoming calls, and I get
this kind of messages inside /var/adm/messages:

Feb 24 14:05:02 zeus kernel: ttyS0: 13 input overrun(s)

for both ports.  The only solution is to power off the modem
and restart it.  Then, uugetty regains controls and accepts answers.

        Here's a copy of my /etc/default/uugetty.ttyS0 file:
