kernel panic with 2.4.9ac9 & 2.4.10pre12 (dvd + corrupt CD)

I tried to mount a CD in my DVD-ROM drive:

Vendor: SAMSUNG   Model: DVD-ROM SD-612F   Rev: FS03

SCSI emulation is enabled.

mount /dev/scd0 /cdrom

wait for about 15 a 20 seconds --> kernel panic

Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000178
* pde = 00000000
Oops: 0002
CPU: 1
EIP: 0010:[<c01daa91>]
EFLAGS: 00010002

registers etc

<0> kernel panic: Aiee killing interrupt handler.
In interrupt handler - not syncing

Tried this with kernel 2.4.9ac9 and 2.4.10pre12

Anyone can reproduce this / knows why this is occuring??

Greetz,

Francois

Try it again with kernel 2.4.9 and patch it to 2.4.9-ac12

The Alan Cox kernel patches are experimental (AFAIK) and you probably want
the latest one (bug fixes).

As far as your problem goes, not a clue!  Sorry :-)

Good luck
