Very Computer

Hi I have an Alcatel Speedtouch USB ASDL modem. I installed Mandrake 8.1
which supposedly is all patched to support this particular USB ADSL modem.

It seems to find the modem fine but either pppd or one of the loaded modules
seems to have some problem which prevents a connection being made.

The following error message is taken from /var/log/messages -

If this makes sense to anybody I would appreciate some help.
