Netgear FA311 (DP83815D rev:B1) and Redhat 7.1

Post by Hank Kingsle » Sun, 02 Sep 2001 01:34:04

Why doesn't my Netgear FA311 (chipset DP83815D board rev B1) work with
Redhat 7.1?

It detects it when I boot but I get messages in /var/log/messages:

Red Hat Linux release 7.1 (Seawolf)
Kernel 2.4.2-2 on an i686
login: root
Password:

Aug 31 16:45:41 proxy ifup: Delaying eth1 initialization.
Aug 31 16:45:41 proxy network: Bringing up interface eth1:  failed
Aug 31 16:58:32 proxy insmod:
/lib/modules/2.4.2-2/kernel/drivers/net/tulip/tulip.o: insmod eth1 failed

It seems like Linux is looking for the wrong driver.  The natsemi.o driver
is present on the system.

Change it in /etc/modules.conf then if that is not the right one. Dunno,
which is right personally speaking.

It's natsemi in /etc/modules.conf already.  *.

If the natsemi.o driver is on the system, have you tried manually insmod'ing
it?

I also have one of these, but am working on other stuff in my system right
now (not messing with it yet ;) .  I'm pretty sure I used it in RH7.0 at one
point though.
