I remember reading some articles on people using more than 2 physical
hard drives with linux, at the moment I'm using two IDE drives, one
with linux and the other is dedicated to dos. I also have a 40Meg
micropolis drive (not sure if it's RLL or MFM) and a WD controller
card lying around somewhere which I would like to try and mount as
a linux drive. I know that the micropolis drive and controller work
fine since I had them in another pc before.
Previously I had tried to use the 40meg together with the two IDE drives
in my machine under dos but I didn't get far since the cards seemed to
conflict with each other and the machine wouldn't boot at all. Unfortunately
I don't have any manuals for the drives or cards, does anyone know if
there are any jumper settings that may get this working. I can pass on
the model numbers for the drives and cards if anyone is able to help.
On another note, I've just got mtools working and am able to access my
A: and B: drives as well as the primary linux partition on my first
hard disk. What I'd like to know is whether mtools should be able to
access my second IDE drive -- this contains a single 100Mb dos partition
and is not bootable. When I put the entry for it in the etc/mtools file
and try to access it mtools keeps comming back with something like
can't initialise D:
probable non-dos drive (something like that anyway)
All the other drives I can access and transfer between with no probs.
Any ideas ?
Setup : 386dx , 0.96a kernel (0.95 boot)
Thanks,

MCC 'interim' 0.96a includes kernel patches 1, 2, and 3.Quote:>Does anyone know if mcc-interim 0.96a will include kernel patches 1 & 2 ?

1. using Linux 0.96a and MCC interim 0.95c+
fdisk-0.92 (I believe included with the MCC-interim release) supports
extended partitions. I have 6 partitions on my 200MB disk:
10 MB DOS, 10MB swap, 20MB root, and 3 user partitions
(because of the 64MB partition limit). It works great.
