by Just wondering why the virtual console's are referred to as
9600 in the file /etc/inittab rather than vc which would
refer to the vc entry in gettydefs. I have tried both and they
both seem to work the same except vc defines clocal and 9600
-clocal (or is it the other way around)

c1:.... getty 9600 tty1
new line
c1:.... getty tty1 vc console
