DCOPserver?

DCOPserver?

Post by Steph » Sun, 03 Jun 2001 16:37:15

Well been having a weird problem with mandrake 8.0 and not sure what's
causing it. Using KDE and  like the knode and kmail readers. Well knode got
to where it wouldn't start and traced it to there being two copies of this
.file called .DCOPserver_localhost.localdomain in my /home/stephe
directory. This box has no nic card and this user is mainly an internet
one. When I delete one of these files (or both) nothing bad happens but
knode then runs fine. Then after a while, these files get regenerated and
it won't work again. Any clues as to what is generating these files?
Firewall perhaps? I see this "localhost" is defined in my network config,
is that needed? I hate to do something dumb and make the internet
connection dead where I can't ask what I've done wrong..

Besides this, I'm enjoying NOT using windows :-)

will leave FIFOs lying around

1. dcopserver problem when login from two machines

When i start the KDE on two machines with the same loginname (using yp -the
home directory is mountet from the server), i get this error-message, when
i start any application (on the machine where i have logged in first):

-----------------------------------------------------
There was an error setting up inter-process
communications for KDE. The message returned
by the system was:

Authentiation Rejected, reason: None of the authentication protocols
specified are supported and host-based authentication failed

Please check that the "dcopserver" proggram is running!
-----------------------------------------------------

The login on each system seperatly works fine, does onyone have an idear,
what i have configured wrong?

KDE:            2.2.1
