1. XFree2.0 Can't find free VT problem
I'm having this problem with both Xfree1.3 & the newer install of
XFree2.0 for linux. It works fine for a while but then I get the
following output when I try the start the server:
XFree86 Version 2.0 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 5000)
Operating System: Linux
Configured drivers:
Mach32: accelerated server for ATI Mach32 graphics adaptors (Patchlevel 0)
Fatal server error:
xf86OpenConsole: Cannot find a free VT
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unexpected signal 13
Has anyone one else had this problem? Can it be fixed? How do I free
up a VT?
When I had this problem with the SLS 1.04 supplied XFree1.3, the
only way the fix it was to re-install the OS from scratch! When I
had the problem, I grabbed a copy of XFree2.0 and installed it over
the XFree1.3 and it didn't help. This leads me to believe that is
has somthing to do with the OS (something in /dev maybe???) and not
with X.
Please HELP!!!!! (if you can...)
Thanks in advance.
