Hello!
I have been experiencing an annoying problem with Linux. A number
of binaries that I got from FTP sites require the shared library libc-4.3,
which I don't have (I only have libc-4.1 that comes with rootdisk-0.98).
I decided to FTP libc-4.3, but the file that I was able to find
(tsx-11.mit.edu:pub/linux/packages/GCC/libc-4.3.tar.z) is apparently
compressed with gzip. I have FTP'ed gzip, but it requires libc-4.3 to
run, so I am in a deadlock.
What would help me out is a version of gzip that would run with
libc-4.1 (a static version, or a version linked for libc-4.1). The
other alternative is a version of libc-4.3 that is compressed with
compress(1) (I think that the filename is libc.so.4.3 or something
like that). I would appreciate any help that anyone can offer.
