1. Intel 82557 Ethernet Pro 100 dies occasionally
Hi,
I have this strange problem going on with my office computer. I have
an Athlon 1.4GHz processor, 1GB memory computer running RedHat Linux
7.1. The kernel is 2.4.7-10. The motherboard looks SiS <something>.
(According to /sbin/lspci, most of the devices are SiS).
About every couple of days, the eth0 interface just suddenly dies. The
only line that I find in the syslogs related to eth0 is
the following:
Dec 9 08:10:21 bertie kernel: eth0: 0 multicast blocks dropped.
I have to drive all the way from home to office just to restart this
interface. This has happened about thrice now. The driver that I am
using is eepro100 module.
I have no idea why this is happening. Any help is appreciated to
avoid those bus rides from home to office. :-) I can give more
information about the system, as I am not sure what else to tell.
Thanks much,
