ghostscript for HP LaserJet 6L ???

Post by Hemonth G. Ra » Sat, 17 Jan 1998 04:00:00

Hello,

Has anyone gotten a LaserJet 6L to work with ghostscript?  Which
version of ghostscript, and what driver?  I'm using gs5.10 (Aladdin, not
GNU ghostscript).  I've tried the pxlmono and lj5gray devices.

I'm using ghostscript in conjuntion with apsfilter.  I've only been
able to get "raw" output (duh).  Anything else (i.e., postscript files)
turn out as gobbledygook.

     I've tried this:

          gs -sDEVICE{pxlmono, lj5gray} -sOutputFile=test
some_postscript_file.ps

          cat test >> /dev/lp1

with junk resulting at the printer.  Are either of these commands
syntactically wrong?

Is the LaserJet 6L backwards-compatible with any other LaserJet?
(I've been able to print to a LaserJet 4L in the past).

Any information would be welcome.  I just escaped the HP Technical
Support phone maze empty-handed.

I used:
        gs -s DEVICE=laserjet -sOutputFile=test.ps
        cat test > test.ps

I use Aladin 4.01 and I'm am happy (so far) with using the LJ4 driver.

my postscript filter script:

#!/bin/sh
/usr/local/bin/gs -q -dSAFER -sDEVICE=ljet4 -dNOPAUSE -sOutputFile=- -r600x600 -

But my needs are fairly simple, I have only used it for fast hardcopy of
source files, using a2ps.

I am using gs5.10 and a LJ6L and get good results with magicfilter using
ljet4-filter.

So do I. I use the ljet4l-filter. But I had to set the resolution to
600 (-r600 option to gs, -D 600 for dvips) in order to get optimal results.
