Folks,
The subject pretty much says it all. I can't seem to formulate a
query for groups.google.com or google.com to find a decent basic FAQ
or HowTo on using a windows DLL within a Linux application. I have
the API for communicating with a particular server platform (I can
not give much in the way of details due to an NDA). The API came as
a windows DLL; there is apparently no equivalent UNIX shared object
library available. From the documentation I've read so far, it
seems to be using Pascal-like conventions for argument passing, and
the documentation states that it depends only on the WinSock DLL for
network connectivity (WS2_32.DLL).
I am programming under Linux, running the 2.2.19 kernel. I may
upgrade to the 2.4 series in the not-too-distant future. I have to
believe that it is possible to use these routines in a Linux app.
Am I wrong? I snooped around quite a bit at the Wine and WineLib
websites, thinking they would be a good source for this information,
but didn't find anything that really seemed to help. I know there
*must* be information about this somewhere, because WINE itself must
be using such techniques when the user has an existing install of
Windows that WINE "leverages" to improve its capabilities. But how
exactly are they doing it? How can I?
Any pointers to documentation would be very greatly appreciated.
best,
Jim Wiggs
