Hi... Hope this is the right spot for this. When using either less
or more, the second page turns inverse video in an xterm. I have
tried everything I can think of, but still no luck. I have gotten
it so just one line turns inverse - the line that 'more' was on, but
it is still very bothersome. Is there a minimal termcap entry or
someting that I could try for the xterm? Where can I go about
checking for this?

May be it's a problem of your terminal description for xterm.
Check your environment variables (TERM, TERMCAP) and the entry for xterm
(or vt100) in termcap.

Check your TERM variable. Probably, it is set to 'console'. Change it
to 'xterm'
