vim and term_set_winsize

Post by Rob Fry » Fri, 23 Aug 2002 11:49:49

I'm trying to compile vim 6.1 on Mandrake linux 8.1.  "configure" tells me:
checking for tgetent in -lncurses... no
checking for tgetent in -ltermlib... no
checking for tgetent in -ltermcap... no
checking for tgetent in -lcurses... no
none found

Tho it does find libncurses* and libtermcap* in /lib.

When linking *.o to make vim, make says
objects/os_unix.o: In function `mch_set_shellsize':
.../os_unix.c:2910: undefined reference to `term_set_winsize'

In os_unix.c line 2910-ish:
        /*
         * NOTE: if you get an error here that term_set_winsize() is
         * undefined, check the output of configure.  It could probably not
         * find a ncurses, termcap or termlib library.
         */
        term_set_winsize((int)Rows, (int)Columns);

Now what?  Do I need termlib as well as termcap & ncurses?

Thanks!

// Rob Frye.

.
Google the comp.editors archives and you will find a few threads regarding
exactly this question. Basically you need the ncurses dev libraries when
compiling vim.

Hello,

You need the Development Packages for the libs (ncursesX-devel...)

1. VIM: Is this a bug of "vim" ?

Hi,
please save this file on your linux box and test it with the
command line:
/usr/bin/vim < filename >

The line vi: and some behind it will be interpreted as
vi: command line options, reading the file from the end
vi: end to to the first line. Please test this.
vi: Lets have a party
vi: You are a nice guy testing this,

By the way: vi : this is line, which does not create any trouble
