you need the following tools:
- the ftape module package (maybe some kernel support has to be added)
- mt (the Magnetic Tools) to rewind and seek the tape
- tar (Tape ARchive) to write onto the tape
this should be all you need, and i guess, you have gotten it all with
the standard distrib... just look for it.
