Micro$oft invasion continues

IMHO the main danger in M$'s business-politics is
that they will _buy_ everything they think might be
competitive in the future.
If M$ knocks on Mr. Torvald's door...my worst dream.

If Linus says YES he will probably get a lot of $'s, and kill Linux
by selling it to M$.
Then will the world come to an end, I'm sure.

Bye

   Kill Linux?

Heh.  I don't think so;  the GPL is almost universally a disease to
be avoided, but it's a *wonderful* thing when it's properly contained
   inside a published interface.

If MS hired Linus Torvalds, Linus would get a nice raise, and the
Linus kernel community would appoint a new dictator for life and
   continue on its merry way.

Simon Andras said this, I'm sure of it...

Linus can't 'sell Linux to MS'. That's the point of the GPL. Although, of
course, he could stop working on it, but though that would be a great loss
to the Linux community, I don't think it would kill Linux.

1. Micro$oft INVASION OF PRIVACY

As I recall, several years ago Prodigy was accused of some similar
scanning of their dialin customers which raised a
big stink.  This might be the reason why M$ is asking permission to
scan.  I am paranoid enough (and perhaps a bit too hysterical) to believe
that my saying 'no' to the scan would completely disable the scan.

Is anyone aware of the results of the stink about Prodigy's supposed
scanning and if any other of the services (AOL, Compuserve) have attempted
this?  I don't think any company has any more right to sniff around on my
computer than they have the right to walk uninvited into my house to
search it.
