So they're sending out gurus now to tell us we want to rent Windows
instead of buying it.

Give me a break.

It's what they force us to, and then when some people fall for it, they say
'we' want it.

I guess 'It's what we want that our customers want' is more accurate

I'm telling you, everything that they're doing is pointing to a
subscription model.  All the winlusers just wait and see.  It's
inevitable.

I saw this coming with integrated Passport, .NET and Product activation.
So far everything is confirming my suspicions.  I'd say by next year or so
it should be in full effect.

I love this article though.  It's like they are saying, "It's what you
guys wanted anyway!"  We'll see, while they are paying their mandatory M$ tax,
I'll be browsing source free of charge!

Sure, it's "useful"...until you miss a payment!  I wonder what the
message will look like when they suspend functionality?

"Extended functionality on this system has been temporarily
         disabled due to non-payment.
         Please contact Microthief Customer Service
                         or switch to Linux."

And of course we all know just how secure and reliable M$ Services are,
so I wonder just how many people will get locked out erroneously even
when they pay the ransom on time?

On the positive side though, the atmosphere in COLA will be much nicer
when the wintrolls are all on hold with M$ Customer Service trying to get
their accounts re-activated!

Kind of ironic actually...You work with M$ products to make money to pay back
to M$.  Go Figure.

It's simple, Microsoft can no longer count on PC sales to fuel growth,
and without growth the folks on Wall Street are going to reconsider
the value of Microsoft stock.  Since Microsoft uses its stock price as
its primary incentive it is literally desperate for growth.

Software leasing solves several of Microsoft's biggest problems.
Software leasing would totally eliminate piracy, it would give
Microsoft a much more steady cash flow, it reduces the need to spend
so much money on the R&D of new features (customers have to pay
whether Microsoft creates new features or not), and it would give
Microsoft the power to add new money-generating features at any time
(much like AOL does with its updates).

Since software leasing is clearly in Microsoft's best interest, they
reason that it must be in their customer's best interests as well.

Personally, I think that Microsoft's in for an uphill battle.

Let them do the subscription model... I'll continue to use my Linux box
and when people complain about having to pay $30/mo for the privilege of
using their computer, show them Linux and explain that you aren't paying
  $30/mo.

That's what I've been seeing for the last few months.  M$ is
going to either totally collapse into the dust or become a
very downsized company.

What Windows Manager are you using?  TWM raw?  Any version of Windows
doesn't even come close to the advanced Windows Managers, desktop
environments, themes, styles, layouts and widget sets available for Linux.
Hell, even the default background pictures that ship with most distros
are awesome!

Don't even go there...Linux has more eye candy than Windows could hope to
have (yes even tonka-toy XP).

Try again.

You see, that's where you guys are clueless.  It's not about eye candy, kewl
backgrounds and midevil-style window widgets.

IT'S ABOUT USABILITY.

Windows has an excellent GUI (the standard GUI, not XP).  Useful and easy
to use. That's why KDE and other WM's try to copy it.  And NONE of them are
as smooth as the windows GUI.

Try again moron.  Better yet, come back in a few years when linsux is even
partailly comparable on the desktop, or you turn 16, whichever comes first.

1. Stupid '640k' bill gates quote

I am looking for the exact quote and publication where (back in the 80s
sometime I am pretty sure) Bill Gates said:

"640k should be enough for everybody" or
"No PC user will ever need more than 640k"

This shall give me even more ammo to pummel the accursed Windoze users I must
share air with. I wonder what stellar predictions Bill has made with this OS
that programmers will have to live with for ten years ;)

Please respond via emailso I don't miss it
