Need help setting up classroom for Linux

Currently, in our linux group, we have several computers on a lan running
linux.
I've read it mentioned in O'Reilley's book "Volume three" "X Window System
User's
Guide" that a teacher could type on his computer examples and have these
examples show up on the students computers.  Not sure how this could
be accomplished and maintain some security.  We have held linux
installfests,
and even had radio broadcast support for the features of linux.

There is a large interest in our community to learn many aspects of Linux &
Unix.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest way is to set up a VNC server on one computer and have the
rest connect in "listen" mode.  This mode allows any number of clients
to connect to the same server.  Actions taken by one will show up on
all, and you don't have to allow the students to connect to your real
desktop.

Thank you much!  But, this VNC server, is it distributed with linux or do we
have to get it from a download site?
Best I've heard yet!

VNC is very useful:

(first link on google).

It's free software.

Some distros have it (Caldera puts it in a "contrib" directory on their
CD, Red Hat apparently includes it).  In any case you can always get it
from the site below.

Indeed.  The fact that it also runs on Windows makes it even more
useful.  For instance, I have to use a C compiler for embedded
development that is node-locked to one computer.  In order to avoid
having to run back and forth from the lab to my office (I don't prefer
to code in the lab, but need to debug & test there), I use VNC to remote
my NT desktop to the Linux machine in the lab.  And vice versa, so I can
use my Linux tools without having to cough up for Hummingbird or some
such X server for the NT machine.

The other really handy feature is that you can move from one computer to
another without losing your place in the programs you have open.
