THE BEST CD distribution???

THE BEST CD distribution???

Post by Mark Cory Dav » Mon, 19 Jun 1995 04:00:00

Hello-

I'm planning to buy a 4GB hard drive for my newest upgrade to
2.3/3.1.1 and I would like to get the most comprehensive linux
CD(or CD set) available.  I'm not new to linux and I will want
to have the very newest kernel/libs/X/etc, so I really only need
a well planned base tree with network support(for ftp of the other
components)  A good manual could also be of help.  Which CD distribution
should I get?  I've looked at Infomagic/Professional Slackware/Yggdrasil
and I actually own Yggdrasil fall'94...

Thanks for all the replies!!  I appreciate your assistance!

Regards-

: Which CD distribution

Maybe you should take a look at the Caldera Network Desktop
(Red Hat Linux based).  Looks pretty interesting; I was order #283,
and it is apparently shipping now ($29 + ship).

They're definitely shipping. We (Red Hat) got our copy on Friday.

I have the Caldera Preview release and it is essentially Redhat Linux
with a Netware Client, a Font Server and a new GUI File Manager for X.
Not all that impressed with it over the normal $19.95 Redhat
Distribution, but if you need a Netware client, then this is the only way
to go.

Redhat is by FAR the best distribution of Linux that I have YET had the
pleasure to use! :)
