Yeah, I migrated from CLOS 1.2 to Mandrake (trying a few in between).  Even
though the CLOS 1.2 distro is over a year old, they still had the best file
manager of any distro I've used.

Will be very interested to see what they come out with.....

No, it won't. Corel was chided by COLA advocates, which I think is a
fair representation of the more rabid Linux supporters, to the point
that a mockery was made of their distribution. This built-up
perception had to permeate down to the new user level.

I'm sure that no matter how good of a product they come out with, it
will be denigrated as either too Windows like, or too easy, or too
something. You can't stray too far from an Xterm with 'advocates'.

Barnes & Noble had a Corel box (with WP) set with book for something
less than $20 last week where I live... along with Debian 2 Unleashed,
and a few others on the bargain shelf at the front of the store.
'course I've seen windows books there as well.
But those seemingly growing out of control shelves of Linux reading
material at the retail level days are over. At least for the time
being.

Now if we could just rid the stores of 2/3 of the VB *as well!

Actually, Although I like the new KDE, I agree with Todd that Corel's
enhancements to the network browsing and mapping function in the file
manager is still the best.  As I belong to a large M$ network, the
ability to easily browse and map to NT machines will be important for
acceptance of linux machines as desktops in my environment.  I like
StarOffice, too, but the fully functional WP suite would also be an
asset.  I really hope they get back into the race.

On another note, with IBM supporting linux now, has anyone heard whether
they plan to port lotus to linux?

Past tense thought I think.

Lotus Domino has been there for quite some time.

I would prefer a Notes client. That'd open some eyes at work...

SmartSuite is not too bad, I suppose, but if, like the Millennium Edition,
it comes without an obvious way to link macros to a key combination, its
usefulness is severely limited as far as I am concerned.

The Notes client works quite well under Wine.   I use it every day at
work.   There is also a documented API for Domino so it work be possible
for someone to write an open source Notes client.  That would be an
interesting project.

Gary?

I assume (because I have no experience with it) that Domino is an integrated
email/calendar server ala MS Exchange? If the API is open, would it not be a
great idea to have IBM throw in a little support towards the Ximian Evolution
team? Their major problem is that Evolution is a drop in replacement for
Outlook, but at the moment there is no real counterpart for the server side of
the Outlook/Exchange combo.
Just asking for opinions, everybody feel free to chip in (or flame me
righteously),

Sounds like a great idea - combine the Evolution client with a Domino
server.  I'll ask around work and see if there is any interest.

Ok,

That was just me throwing an idea into the air. I didn't expect it to be taken
*this* seriously.

Thanks Gary!

1. Corel Linux -- maybe just my bad

Hi,
By the sound of things CorleLinux has installed itself to an
extended partition. As far as I know it can only boot from a
primary one. HDA2 is normally an extended partition with hda1
and hda3 being primary.
You could fix this with something like partition magic by
moving partitions around. Also Mandrake are working on a tool
called DiskDrake which is similar.
You can have more than one primary partition so it should be no
problem.
