Don't waste your time with Mandrake 9.1 Linux.

Post by Nuveen Sin » Thu, 08 May 2003 01:48:28

I've just wasted 2 days trying to get this pile of junk to work
properely and my opinion of Linux is pretty low at the moment.

I summerize below:

Mandrake has troubles dealing with NTFS partitions.
Konqueror just hangs solid when selecting the /mnt directory.

I can't get either mplayer nor xine to play proeperly without locking
up solid.

I have a Soundblaster Audigy and I can't get rear channels nor can I
play an mp3 while browsing without getting static in the audio.

Many of the websites I regularly visit do not work with Linux for some
reason.

I could go on and on for pages, but I will not because just one look
at Linux is all it takes for a person to go running back to Windows.

Windows is overpriced and that is true, but at least it works
correctly and doesn't suck like Linux does.

Shit, that's what Linux is...................

Pure SHIT..........

Can't comment here. I don't have Win on either of my PCs.

Quote:> Konqueror just hangs solid when selecting the /mnt directory.

It will if a)Supermount is enabled(default setting) and b)removable drives
are empty.
What's your point?

They work splendedly here. Without any effort on my part.
So, your inadequacy!=failure on the part of Linux?

Just install the drivers that came with the card.
Oh. Wait. Creative Labs is one of those piece of shit companies that don't
write drivers for Linux.
Guess yer stuck with two channel stereo for now.

You're just full of shit here. No website works with Linux. Nor do they
work with Windows or Mac. They work with properly configured browsers.
Unless, of course, the webmaster is an idiot.

My opinion of LGX remains high, my opinion of second-rate trolls has
always been low.

No shit.   A proprietary locked down filesystem developed by a
monopolistic corporation, do you wonder why?

How does Windows work with ext2/3, Reiser, XFS,  and JFS?

Quote:> Konqueror just hangs solid when selecting the /mnt directory.

You are having what some refer to as "a problem".  The way to resolve
these problems is not to * about them, but to ask for assistance while
providing as much detail as possible.

See above.

You've been tried, tested and found sorely lacking.

Of course, because NTFS is not an open file-system.

My cmi8738 audio card fails to work on xp.

You would complain about other problems such as crash or virus after
switching back to windos. That's what you clueless desktop suckers are
doing everyday. There is nothing to do with the OS itself, it's all
