I have been getting this oops as well, though not on boot. I have one
of those systems where I have to turn off my L2 cache while compiling the
kernel or other sizable programs (such as dosemu last night). I tried to
reproduce the oops, and it would appear at random times (I think) while
compiling dosemu. I was unable to get to to occur while compiling w/o L2..
I still wasn't able to get dosemu to compile, but I suspect there are
some changes in the kernel since the most recent "release" that cause that.
In any event, my system:
gcc 2.7.2
ldd 1.7.14
ld.so 1.7.14
binutils blah.blah.blah.10 (most recent)
others on request, I have no clue where the bug is.

I get it with telnets, too. I think I'll try 1.3.74.
