I have been trying to find a driver or the escape codes for the canon
bjc-4000 printer.  Does anyone know where to find this information?

You might want to check out the RedHat site http://www.redhat.com or
there ftp site (ftp://ftp.redhat.com).
I run RedHat Linux 5.1 at home and that one comes with a driver for a
Canon BJC-600 / BJC-4000 (thought so anyway). If you can't find it,
just mail me and I try to find it on my own system (I'm still a newbe
to Linux, so it might take a while to track it down).

Hope this helps,

 Hi,

The gnu ghostscript (v.3.33) that comes as standard with rh5.1 doesn't
seem too happy about
producing colour output for this printer. It manages B&W fine, but
coredumps if you've
configured it for colour in printtool. It's the -dBitsPerPixel=24 option
to gs that causes the
problem.

The solution is to upgrade to aladdin ghostscript 5.10.

If you use RedHat, you can get an rpm for it from the contrib section of
the redhat ftp site.

Ale.

Well, I must say that I have a BJC-600 and it doesn't print anything
under RedHat 5.1. Seems to get initialized, but does not print, only
when directly printing to the port using the printtool.
Otherwise, nothing at all. Still haven't figured out why
(troubleshouting help did not help me).

Sander.

1. Canon BJC-4000 Printer: What Printer Driver Do I Use for Postscript Translation?

I'd like to print straight from Linux, and do all word processing and
so forth.  But, I dunno if there's a special Canon driver, since the generic
Epson one is _SLOW_ and looks awful.

Is there a special driver for this printer via GhostScript?
