Very Computer

I have 2 binaries of a program.  A sco binary and an isc
binary.  I am not sure what isc stands for.  

When I try to run the sco binary I get a seg fault.  (I have
iBCS2 running, RedHat installed it default).

isc version of the binary runs but later exits with an error
while trying to talk to /dev/tcp.

NRLInitialize: t_open /dev/tcp failed. t_errno=8
errno = 13
NRLInitialize: CheckTLI failed - returned 64496
./agent.be: Communication System Failure:
NRL initialization failed.

Can anybody provide any helpful insight into this ?

Yeah, but which version? Either you are missing a needed COFF shared library
or you need a newer iBCS module. (N.B. iBCS not iBCS2. I'm not sure why
someone decided to slip in an arbitrary name change.). Check out
tsx-11.mit.edu:/pub/linux/BETA/ibcs2/.

/dev/tcp is a TLI/XTI transport as opposed to sockets. You need a later
version of iBCS from tsx-11 for this to work. You may also need one or more
shared libraries from an ISC system and an understanding of how to configure
name-to-address resolution in an SVR4 environment.
