: It's great and all to hear about the new updates for the 1.3.42 kernel
: and all, but could someone point me to an ftp site for me to anonymously
: download such the newest kernel?

: ftp.linux.org     supports 1 anonymous ftp user!  I spent all night
: 'redialing' this site and finally gave up after say 830 retries.

: I would really appreciate it if an alternative site which HAS the latest
: kernel revisions were posted to the newsgroup.

 Try porsas.cs.Helsinki.FI:/pub/Software/Linux/Kernel

        Try ftp://ftp.nether.net/Linux/Kernel

It mirrors porsas.cs.helsinki.fi every 6 hours, and nether.net is
homed off of a ds3, so it's one of the fastest linux ftp sites.

I believe the preferred name is ftp.cs.Helsinki.FI - could someone from
Helsinki University confirm or deny this?

[Maybe somewhat off-thread.]

1) I've got the latest linux 1.3.x patches and kernels on our BBS.  (plus loads of
linux and unix stuff.)
2) I'm archiving comp.os.linux.answers on our BBS.

There's a linux bbs list, but it's not been posted to col.answers since I started
archiving, or I'd mail the maintainer :-).

Try linux.ucs.indiana.edu:/linux/kernel/v1.3.

That's a site I helped setup that's fast and generally open. We accept 30
concurrent connections. The kernel mirror happens a couple times a day.

There's some other worthwhile stuff there too.

1. PPP don't work with 1.3.35 kernel-quota

Dear Linux-users,

I have major problem to get working PPP on my system.

I've installed 3.0 slakware and I am using kernel version
1.3.35 with quota system.

I cannot get working PPP, dmesg says PPP is on but when I run
PPP, it says PPP is not available on this system.

I admit someone else has same problem before but I didn't find
fix for that.

Is the problem ELF binaries support ?
and is there somewhere newer version of kernel which is supported with
quota system ?
