pppd.2.2.0f

pppd.2.2.0f

Hi:
I just wonder if anybody noticed that when I upgrade pppd to the
latest release from what Slackware 3.0 had I have to monkey the source
code to make it work. (I have to upgrade pppd to run kernel 2.0.)

The reason is that most of the -other modem- sofware I have uses uucp
locking mechanism (bad but that's the way they are) and new pppd puts
its lock to "/var/lock" while others silently agree on having the lock
in "/var/lock/uucp" . I know this is not a problem of pppd - I
just wanted to bring this issue up. Maybe I am the only one who gets
sofware from all over the place - but in this case why do they agree....

Thanks

Get a copy of a document called FSSTND. It will explain all.

A copy of it is on sunsite.unc.edu or tsx-11.mit.edu.

1. pppd - need help compiling pppd 2.2.0f

I've got pppd 2.2.0f and I can't compile it. So the question is what
version of gcc/cpp should I use? Maybe I have an old one (2.7.0). Kernel
2.0.3. Following is what I usually get compiling pppd:

In file included from main.c:43:
pppd.h:69: parse error before `netmask'

Any help would be _very_ appreciated.
