Hi,
I have BCD CD-ROM x48 installed as slave on second ide.
If I perform 'mount' ,the door is locked until I reboot and the led
flashes.
No 'umount' neither 'eject' helps at all.
The same CD-ROM behaves nice under WNT-4.0/DOS.

Previously I used Panasonic's CR581 x4 and had no problem at all.

I had this same problem. Never fixed it, but now that i think about it,
i think it may have been because there was some type of mixer or CD
program running int he background

I don't think so. I have nothing running at the background.

that's what i thought too, but a careful inspection of ps ax showed some
cd mixer program that started up as part of gnome or kde (can't
remeber), and did not show up under the window manager interface.
