line 1574 of md.c is an MD_BUG which gets called if "analyse_sbs"
returns non-zero.
analyse_sbs returns non-zero only if the label "abort:" is jumped.
Every "goto abort" is preceeded by an "MD_BUG" or a printk except one
after check_disk_sb and one after alloc_array_sb.
These both print messages in cases were they fail, except for
alloc_array_sb which won't print a message if __get_free_pages
fails.

So, if the message about "1574 of md.c" is the first message you get,
then __get_free_page must be failing.  It it isn't, please tell us the
first error message that you get.

1. RAID autodetection not working

Hello,

I see some similar posts, but they have to do with booting from a soft
RAID.  My RH 7.1 system boots from IDE drives.  I made a RAID 5 array
from 3 drives on a SCSI controller manually, after initial
installation.  The raid device is not detected on boot.  However, it
can be started manually, and then works fine.

I followed the how-to to set it all up.  The raid disks' partitions
are FD with autodetection. Persistent superblock is set to 1.  I think
that the kernel has raid autodetection built in.  In dmesg I see thing
like "autodetecting RAID arrays," and starting RAID devices.  However,
the raid doesn't start until I start it manually.

Seems like autodetection isn't working right.  So, I need to start the
raid manually somewhere.
Where and how do I do that?

Thank you.
