Newer 2.5 kernels don't poweroff my machine anymore. The last message
on screen is 'Power down." and then nothing happens.

2.5.41-ac2 is the last kernel that worked fine. 2.5.42 and 2.5.42-ac1
both seem to do something strange to the framebuffer, so I couldn't see
the last line, but 2.5.43 boldly states 'Power down.'.

kernel command-line:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2543 root=/dev/hda7 video=matrox:vesa:0x11E,fv:80,sgram hdc=scsi apm=power-off

1. Sparc 5s won't talk!!!

Unix neophyite!

Have two Sparc5s attempting to add to network running kerberos and yp.

added Sparcs to server yp hosts, ethers,

created entires on sparcs for hosts, ethers, domain, hostname, netmask

attempted ping from server to sparc - "host not reachable!"
attempted ping from sparc to server - "host not reachable!"

What was equally interesting is that I see no 'light' on the router.  All
of the other machines show a green light.  I'm assuming this is good??
(NOT a hardware person either.)  Sparcs appear dead.  I did a yp -a plumb
on each sparc - no luck.  It created an ethernet (device driver ?)
connection - "le0"; I'm assuming that this is what the item is.

Anyone have any good ideas?  I'm kind of "swinging in the wind",  no real
Unix folks around - I'm it!!!

activate them???

HHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPP!
E-mail responses are desired since my dungeon - office doesn't have
newsgroup access.  <- And, since I'll be spending all of my wakeing hours
there until I can get this resolved - snifle, snifle, heavy sigh!!!

Desperate!!
Thanks.
