w83627hf fast serial port driver available

Post by Tony Lindgre » Thu, 04 Jul 2002 11:30:07

Hi all,

I just posted a driver that enables the high speed serial port modes
for the w83627 chip used on many motherboards, such as Tyan S2460.

To use the driver, you also need to use setserial after loading the
driver to enable the high speed mode.

Hopefully somebody someday will combine all the high speed serial
port drivers into some generic high speed serial port driver...

You can also download the driver from:

The someday is actually coming soon.

Russell King is wizarding on unification of the serial drivers for
the 2.5 kernel. IIRC, the approach was to eliminate duplicated code,
rather than eliminate drivers, per se.

1. Dallas one-wire driver for Linux serial port available

I've made available a preliminary version of code to communicate with the
Dallas Semiconductor One-Wire bus (in particular their DS9091K
development kit). It does a ROM search and finds the three devices
on the kit circuit board. No temperature reading yet, I need to figure
out exactly how to do the hard pullup and there are no docs or
schematics for the circuit board that's built into the RS-232 hood
so I'll either have to toggle the usual lines and see what happens
or pry the thing open :-)

Its at ftp://ftp.scruz.net/users/cichlid/public/one-wire.tar.gz

If you want to find out about the one-wire bus see Dallas' web pages
especially http://www.dalsemi.com/DocControl/PDFs/1820.pdf

Enjoy!
