Quote:> 1. Cannot move position within large mp3 files.

I only have WMA content on my device so I can't test that right now.

Quote:> 2. Deleted WMP 4 playlist still listed in WMP 7.1 Select menu:

Have you tried a soft reset or shutting down and restarting Media Player?

WMP 7.1 bugs with position and old playlists

Post by John Bleasdal » Wed, 30 May 2001 21:43:05

Two more possible bugs in WMP 7.1:

1. Cannot move position within large mp3 files.

Playing a 25Mb 64kbs mp3 file from 64Mb storage card on HP548. I can move
the position slider a short distance into the file and play successfully,
but not if I slide more than about 20% of the way in - media player says
"Playing" but nothing else happens. This was possible in the original WMP
and WMP 7.0.

2. Deleted WMP 4 playlist still listed in WMP 7.1 Select menu:

I deleted a WMP 4 playlist file after installing WMP 7.1. This old playlist
is still listed under the Select menu of WMP 7.1, even after a restart. I
haven't found any way to stop WMP 7.1 reporting this "ghost" playlist.

Any help appreciated.

Both, without success.
I suspect that uninstalling and re-installing 7.1 will clear this up and
will try this later today.

1. display bug in WMP 7.1

When I open the Start menu while playing video with WMP 7.1
(on iPaq), the Start menu often gets trashed by the video :-)

In fact, I am happy to see that problem with WMP 7.1, because it is
a consequence of a shortcoming of the Microsoft Shell API on the
Pocket PC: It is not possible to make sure an application
stops accessing the display before the Start menu opens.

This problem exists with all multimedia players and video
games that use the Game API to access the video memory faster.

So now that MS finally discovered that there is an API problem,
maybe it will be fixed in futur incarnations of the Pocket PC.
