Wifi sync with Activesync

Post by tom » Mon, 17 Mar 2003 06:32:48

Each time I try to sync wireless wifi with my HP5450 I get this error.  I
can sync fine via USB and I can ping all the computers on my network via
name and IP address and I can ping the iPAQ from the desktop machine I want
to syn to....What's up.  I set the iPAQ with a static IP and put the ip
address of the desktop that I want to syn with in the WINS section.  I still
can not sync wirelessly.  I have all of the options in connection manager
set to Work....HELP!!! and may thanks.......

Wifi sync with Activesync

I had the same thing. My mistake was setting the network
adapter (iPAQ under settings/connections/connections)
on "internet" instead of "work". After changing that
matter it worked immediatedly. I set the iPAQ to receive
the IP automatically and not with a static IP. Good luck.

1. WiFi Activesync Toubleshooting Help Needed

I ran through Chris DeHerrara's fantastic 802.11 Wireless LAN
Configuration and associated FAQ's and still cannot sync with my
desktop or use Pocket IE.  (Note: I cross posted this on his message
board and then discovered this forum).

Funny thing is, I CAN check my outlook IMAP email account!  I have
spent hours trying to figure this out on my own.  Any suggestions
would be much appreciated.

I will first summarize my current configuration and then comment
regarding all the troubleshooting steps that I took:

Linksys Wireless AP -> Linksys Router <- DESKTOP <- PPC
DHCP

PPC
- IPAQ 39xx running PC 2002
- Compaq 802.11b CF card with latest driver.
- Set to obtain IP automatically.  Set WINS to IP of my PC.  The card
see the AP and has an "excellent" connection.
- Connection Manager: All set to "Work"

DESKTOP
- Client for MS Networks Installed
- Have synced with PPC via USB several times before.
- Activesync option to allow Ethernet/network access checked

TROUBLESHOOTING

- I can ping the desktop IP and Gateway IP.
- A lookup of the desktop IP shows my desktop PC's host name.
- I can ping www.yahoo.com.
- I can check my IMAP4 email via outlook on my PPC.  When I do a
"Send/Receive", I see the activity lights blink on my 802.11b card
(the only time I see the activity lights).
- I can not access www.yahoo.com from Pocket IE (no response at all
when I enter URL
- I can not connect to the desktop using activesync
