HOWTO question about appointments

Post by B. L. Schneide » Wed, 09 May 2001 01:22:19

I have just purchased a Jornada 525.  My employer uses Outlook for its corporate
calendar.  I want to add appointments to the 525 that do _NOT_ get added to my
corporate calendar.  It appears that any appointment on the PPC but not on the
desktop will be added to the desktop, regardless of the Category assigned.  You
can use Categories to keep appointments on the desktop from being added to the
PPC, but it does not seem to work the other way.

Does anyone know how to keep appointments on the PPC from being added to the
desktop?

When adding a new entry have you tried setting the sensitivity setting
to private - It's right at the bottom of a new calendar entry screen
and you'll have to lower the keyboard sip to see it.

Yes, I tried setting Sensitivity to Private, it made no difference with MS
ActiveSync.  I have learned that Intellisync from Puma Tech has a "filter" to
exclude Private items and it works.  I just hate to have to spend another $70 to
keep my personal appointments off my corporate calendar.

Private should work... But since it doesn't seem to be working, use
'Categories'... On your desktop open ActiveSync and select 'options' and
then preferences for calendar. You can tell it what type of things you want
to sync.

You can designate Categories on both sides - device and AS - does that make
a difference?

Categories will keep desktop appointments from being added to the PPC, but
they
do not keep PPC appointments from being added to the desktop.

Using Categories can keep appointments that are on the desktop from being added
to the PPC, but they do not work the other way.  That is, appointments added to
the PPC get synced to the desktop regardless of Category or Sensitivity.  I need
to be able to add appointments to my PPC that do not wind up on my corporate
calendar.

1. All Day Appointments become 2 day appointments

I've been noticing that many of my appointments that are originally entered
as All Day Appointments, once synced with Outlook XP via ActiveSync 1.5,
become All Day Appointments lasting 2 days.

Any ideas?  I am using an HP Jorn. 525.
