I have been trying to get my iPaq 3870 to sync over WiFi for ages.  Fine in
the USB cradle, but will only connect as guest by WiFi.  BUT when I
disconnected my DSL internet connection, ActiveSync made the WiFi connection
fine, and also initiated an internet dial up.

i.e. disconnect your internet connection, and you may get a work around for
802.11 syncing / back up.  The internet connection can be re-made once the
device has connected.

1. ActiveSync via 802.11 Wireless LAN (802.11) Ad-hoc network with Laptop?

Hi all,
I would like to synchronize my PocketPC 2002 with my Win2K Laptop using 802.11 wireless LAN (in ad-hoc mode).

My both systems are equipped with a 802.11 WLAN cards, both are in ad-hoc mode (for the time being without encryption) and both
sides claim, that they are "associated", so I guess some basic communication is working. But what are the next steps to get this
going?

How does the PocketPC find its "partner" on the network?

Has anybody ever done that and would be willing to share his/her knowledge how to do this? Or is there a good website explaining in
some detail how to do this?
