UNIX system administrator/TCP/IP network manager

MJ Research, Inc. , a leading developer and manufacturer of products for
molecular biology research, seeks an experienced Unix system administrator
for an HP9000 server, a TCP/IP network including SGI workstations, and
Macintosh computers. Database experience with Informix preferred. Duties
will include dealing with the hardware, setting up new software systems
including network/Internet security, setting up a WWW site, managing Email
(POP), managing backups, troubleshooting, and small programming projects.

Daily responsibilities:

hardware and software installation
maintenance of Unix server, workstations, and TCP/IP network
maintaining security
managing backups of Unix systems and Macintosh network
trouble shooting systems and network
supporting endusers


Must possess a BS in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of 3
years experience.
Thorough knowledge of Unix computing environment on HP9000 and SGI
including hardware and operating systems.
TCP/IP networking management experience
Macintosh experience
Troubleshooting skills
Communications skills

Job description
This person would play a leading role in the
development of a Linux-based device that would
be part of a new feature suite that Airvana is
currently developing to support the next generation
of the 1xEV-DO standard.

Such a person should have the following skills:

*) Thorough knowledge of the Linux environment.
     (Ex: kernel modules, kernelspace/userspace distinctions,
        filesystems, system administration etc) .(MUST)

*) Expertise with developing complex applications in the
        Linux environment. (MUST)

*) Expertise in multithreaded programming in a Linux
        environment. (MUST)

*) Expertise in IP networking in general, and
        the Linux implementations thereof in particular. (MUST)

*) Familiarity with commonly used data structures/algorithms (MUST)

*) Knowledge of C/C++, Python. (MUST)

*) Expertise in the use/configuration of commonly available
        software packages, especially Apache,
