NMI Trap

NMI Trap

Post by Antonio Mart?n Marc » Tue, 20 Apr 1993 17:19:23

After upgrading one of our systems from 8 to 12 Mb of memory, we get
an NMI trap error, even if we start from scratch installing UNIX (by the
way, Interactive UNIX)

Any ideas about what's happenning? Could it be an error in the memory that
it is not detected in the memory check at system startup?

The system is a 486-66MHz.

You get an NMI if there a parity error occurs when accessing memory.
Among the causes are bad memory chips, memory chips that are not fast
enough for your computer and mixing of SIMMs with 1 Megabit (the ones
with 9 chips) and 4 Megabit (the ones with 3 chips) on the same board.
