Help with file Xfer in telnet PLEASE!

Post by Jim Fo » Sun, 03 Oct 1993 01:15:22

If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it!  I need to download
some files off of a BBS on the net.  I can telnet directly to the BBS but,
the BBS only sopports Zmodem, Xmodem, Kermit type file transfers.

Is there a way to invoke rz or kermit while in a telnet session that the
BBS would recognize and strat sending the files.  I have tried shelling
out but, that doesn't seem to work

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!

Kermit for Unix supports telnet connects, so you should be able to telnet
in with Kermit, then use kermit as the protocol - if you arent running Unix
I dont know wht to suggest.

Hope this helps.

1. File xfer speed significantly different : Help

Hello.

I have machine A running Linux 2.0.30 with IP masquerading and another
machine B running windows 95. A and B are connected via BNC/Coax
ehternet cards (Intel Ether Express 16 coax on A and 3Com Combo on B).
File transfer rate from A (Linux) to B (Win95) is good (700 - 900
Kbytes/sec). However, the other way around is very very slow. Depending
on the transfer methods it is something like 7-10Kbytes/sec for ftp and
smbclient, and 100Kbytes/sec after NFS mounting win95 disk on linux side
and using "cp" command.

Anyone having similar experiences ? Any help would be highly
appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
