SunNet Manager 2.2.2 remote session

SunNet Manager 2.2.2 remote session

Post by josiah.hob.. » Tue, 04 Mar 1997 04:00:00

I have a Sun SparcStation that I use for network SNMP administration. I have SunNet
Manager 2.2.2 and Optivity installed for that purpose. It works great on the console, but
what I would really like is to be able to use it remotely from a PC using eXceed or some
other emulator.

Problem is, I can't figure out how to launch snm remotely. Does anyone know the command
to do this? I've tried giving snm the " -display <pc-ip-address>:0" parameters, like I would
with xterm, but that doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx!

I do it all the the time from exceed.  If you are working in a secure
environment make sure you add your pc (xhost +[hostname]).  Also, make
sure SNM_NAME is set to something other than root.

I use the following command: snm -display myhost:0 &

1. Login Session Manager - adding session

Hi folks;

O/S: RedHat 6.1
X environments: GNOME/KDE/MOTIF

I installed MOTIF with the RPM.
I brought it up - works fine.

I want to install it so it is available with the LSM (Login Session
Manager).
I executed the utility, added it to the GNOME/KDE/failsafe/default list.
I backed out of the LSM, went back in and it is listed.
I went to init 1 and back to init 5, but it doesn't show up.
I went back into LSM and it is listed as an environment.

Any ideas?

I've added it to prefdm, put it in /etc/sysconfig/desktop and it works
fine - but I want to see it in the login session screen - like the
manual says it should.

regards,
tonyp
