Hi team,
I have a machine which has "gigabit ethernet" card installed on the
system, but could not detect the interface upon booting up (I did a
"boot -r" at OBP prompt).

I checked on another system which also has "gigabit ethernet" card
installed on the system and was able to detect the interface.

The difference is I found out that one of the system does not have
the "Gigabit" driver installed.

Do I need to install the driver in order for the system to detect
the interface and then configure it.

I am just wondering if I could copy the driver fr one system to
another. If so, where could I get the driver s/w. If not, where can I
get the driver ??

Please help.

If you have similar GigE cards, you should install the same package on
both computers, containing the same kernel driver. To find out package
name check for driver's full path in the 'contents' database:

% grep /kernel/drv/ge /var/sadm/install/contents
/kernel/drv/ge f none 0755 root sys 136592 26280 968268237 SUNWged
% pkginfo SUNWged
system SUNWged Sun Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Driver

Yes. No driver, no interface.

See if you have a CD-ROM around somewhere with the driver on it.
Is this the Sun GE adapter, or the Sun/Alteon VGE adapter?
The latter is good only up to Solaris 2.6.

Honestly can't remember if this driver is available from the
Sun website, and it is always so pathetically slow....
