Hi,

I've installed inn on a new server to replace the old news server, it
works well, but I have to get all the old articles of the old server to
put them in the new !

How can I do ?

Are those versions compliant ?

Can't you make the new one a downstream server temporarily
from the old one with all newsgroups being fed to it? I
think the newsfeeds file handles this.

On the new news server, you can use nntpget to connect to the old news
server and retrieve articles that will be offered to the local news
server (see -o in nntpget man page).

feed them.  use xrefslave mode on the new system, so that they'll have the
same article numbers as on the old system.  also you'll probably need to
disable date checking on the new machine while you are doing this.

i'd suggest using 2.3.2 or 2.3.3, but 1.7.2-insync-1.1d is workable.

seems i didn't read this line and the subject together.  let me answer
better this time:

the history and overview files are completely different.  if you load the
new server using a feed they don't matter, as they are built by the
receiver as they articles are received, and both follow the nntp spec so
all should be well.  if you want to transfer the spool by copying the files
then you'll have to rebuild the databases manually.
